We had beautification day on January 3rd to help prepare the Kona Campus for the incoming students in DTS! I got to help clean rooms and exchange old mattresses for new ones. It was so cool to get to serve the base in this way. We had it looking great for arrival day! The following day we did a youth movement staff camping trip. We did this to bond together before the students arrived while also praying together to cast vision for the school! The schools this year have been split into Least Reached and Youth Movement. This is to guarantee that each respective school is getting the necessary training to succeed in their nations. Arrival day was so much fun. It was so cool seeing all the students arrive for their life changing experience that is DTS. We had our first class together where both schools learned about the campus and the larger story of YWAM Kona. We got to hear about the vision Loren Cunningham had so long ago. Throughout the first week, students were rededicating their lives and coming to truly know Jesus for the first time! It was a beautiful experience. During the first week, we immediately worked with the students on building a devotional life and hearing God's voice! We love to listen to what our heavenly Father has to say! The great Andy Byrd was our speaker for our first week and man did he motivate us to pursue the Lord and love the nations. Our desire as staff and teachers is to activate the students in their missional callings which is definitely one of Andy Byrd's strong suits. We also got to hear John Bevere speak on the fear of God. It was such a good reminder of what the fear of the Lord truly is. We also had freedom week! This is where we got to pray for inner healing with the students and guide them in walking towards freedom in their lives. Many students told us they felt lighter. We got to pray for original design, the 4 R's (Repent, Receive, Rebuke, Replace), passivity, and forgiveness. We also have prayer and worship sets everyday with our school. In these we pray and intercede for the nations! We also had Pure Heart week where students really got to tackle those mother and father wounds. We also tackled unforgiveness, unresolved trauma, and other deep things in the Lord. There was alot of healing that week and it was so beautiful. This first month of DTS has been jam packed. The goodness of God is on full display!
